Just 8km south of Taba, 250 metres off the coast, lays Pharaoh’s Island, which features a massive fortress built in the 12th Century, used to house pilgrims and later occupied by Sultan Salah Ad Din (Saladin). Today, you can visit the island and explore the fortress for yourself, as well as the many other historical sites that Taba has to offer, including St. Catherine’s Monastery found on Mount Sanai.
